Little Bay, Jamaica
Coral Cottage is located right in Little Bay, a quaint seaside town centered around fishing. It's relaxing atmosphere and friendly locals will make you feel right at home. Hang out with the local people, pull up a seat at one of the nearby bamboo bars or restaurants, and really experience Jamaica the way it was meant to be experienced. Right in Little Bay, one can find time to take in several of the local activities and areas:
- Bob Marley Mineral Spring - Take a dip in this mineral pool that provides a great place to cool off on hot days and a soothing spot to relax privately away from the town.
- Bob Marley House - Just a short stroll up the beach and you will find the house Bob Marley lived in. Bob found Little Bay the perfect place to escape to when the pressures of recording got to be too much.
- Crafting - Hang out with the locals in several of the crafting centers around Little Bay. Little Bay is home to many artists that spend time creating handmade gifts and baskets (hand-woven from palms). Ask for a lesson and you may learn a new craft yourself.
- Bat Cave - Just a short hike from Coral Cottage you will find a beautiful bat cave. Enjoy the beautiful scenery along the hike to the cave and then enjoy the coolness and beauty of the cave.
- Sea Fishing - If you enjoy sea fishing, trips can be arranged with a local boat captain who offers half day trips. Enjoy fishing the Jamaican way and have a fun day on the water. It’ll be a fishing trip you won’t soon forget. Always fun!
- Deserted Beach - Little Bay is surrounded by deserted beaches. Find the time to take a boat trip to explore the beaches and collect sea shells or just relax on your own private beach. This is always an adventure!
- Sea Cave Exploration - Take a boat trip up the shoreline to explore the sea caves along the Jamaican coast. Enjoy the time on the water and expect to see some sea life along the way. Dolphins and flying fish may be spotted on these tours.

- Snorkel the Little Bay Reefs - Little Bay’s surrounding shoreline is known as one of the last unspoiled shore areas of Jamaica. Thus, one would expect the reefs to be absolutely spectacular, and they are! The crystal clear blue waters provide the perfect spots for a colorful and magnificent view of the wonders to be found beneath the surface of the ocean waters. See coral formations that are breathtaking, and take time to watch the native fish put on a show, flitting in and out of the coral. The reefs surrounding Little Bay are considered one of the best areas to snorkel in Jamaica. Take advantage of an opportunity to explore an entirely different world.
Blue Hole Mineral Spring
Close by Coral Cottage is Blue Hole. Set deep in the earth, Blue Hole is a hollow opening in the ground that houses a bright blue mineral spring surrounded completely by Karst limestone. The minerals in the limestone create a constant swell of water that makes up the spring itself. Lower yourself into this mineral bath and let it relax you after a long afternoon or before your next big adventure. Jump right in or take it slowly down a ladder that leads right down into the calm blue waters.
YS Falls
Also nearby Coral Cottage are YS Falls. The fall itself is a seven-tiered cascading waterfall, one of the many beautiful nature-based attractions in the area. Almost all of the seven waterfalls pours into a natural pool, perfect for relaxing. Nearby is a natural wading pool perfect for children. The whole area is surrounded by lush vegetation and local plant life that creates the ideal island atmosphere. But YS Falls isn't just about the waterfalls and amazing ambience. There are several other activities to try out when spending a day there:

Roaring River
Roaring River boasts not only a spectacular water show as you can watch the water gushing along its course through the plant life, over and around rocks, but also puts on a magnificent show beneath the surface. Roaring River is home to a cavern system that provides walks that will leave you breathless – large cathedral-like rooms are brought to life by strategically placed low lighting. One can walk through and marvel at the beauty created by the surrounding Karst limestone as well as take dips into the healing mineral ponds inside the actual caverns. Bathing suits and towels are encouraged. The caverns are easily navigated with limited stooping in some areas to avoid some low-hanging formations. Guided tours may be provided.
Negril
Only 10 miles from Coral Cottage is the hubbub of Negril, Jamaica. Negril boasts some of the best shopping and nightlife in the area. Take a day trip to Negril to see a different side of Jamaica, seemingly worlds away from the charming small-town feel of Little Bay. Shop, eat, or take in the nightlife at the clubs and bars. Negril has something for everyone.
- Shopping – Negril has some of the best shopping in the area. A large mall houses several shops (some of which are duty-free). Pick up perfumes, books, cigars, dresses, and even some of Jamaica's famous Blue Mountain Coffee. Local grown fruits and vegetables can be found at the Hi-Lo Grocery, along with traditional Jamaican cooking spices for your own experiments with Jamaican cuisine. The largest crafts center in the area can be found at the Negril Crafts Market where one can find anything from wood carvings to jewelry. Haggle with the vendors and you may end up with a steal!
- Restaurants – No matter your taste, Negril has something for you. Try out the Caribbean flavors of Hungry Lion or Juicy J’s, pick up some seafood at Rick's Café., or try out the international cuisine of Kuyaba on the Beach or the LTU Pub. Sample a little bit of everything on your trip into Negril.
- Nightlife – Try out the nightlife by visiting one of the nightclubs in the area. The most popular club in the area is Bourbon Beach, directly across from the mall, which features live music (mostly reggae) three nights a week and serves food most of the night. Alfred's Ocean Palace provides great live music, offers a diverse food and drink menu, and its beachside party area attracts a young crowd. The Jungle is Negril's most famous nightclub (located right inside Mariner's Negril Beach Club). The Jungle is a sprawling nightclub featuring several floors of dancing and drinks – a popular club especially over spring break. For a more laid-back time, Risky Business is a club that offers a variety of music, food, and drinks. Karaoke is featured some nights and attracts a relatively young crowd. No matter your style, there is something just for you in Negril's nightlife scene.
- Negril Hills Golf Club – Enjoy a day out on the green at a beautifully kept and landscaped golf course. A professional staff will help you along the way, and caddies are offered. The course overlooks beautiful Negril Bay and is set on rolling hills with trees and greens that offer stunning views. Each hole provides a different challenge, including several downhill tees and uphill approaches. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
